WILDLIFE LEGACY MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE

WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO: This is a bit of a twist on our normal mission, but a wonderful holiday story. We want to make a difference! A small Jewish coffee shop in New York, owned by a family that lost friends in Israel on October 7th, wanted to show support for hostages and put Israeli flags in his shop’s windows. His barista staff organized a boycott to protest The Star of David in his windows and him being Jewish, every single employee walked out. For a small cafe, losing a couple of days income would put him out of business. It would have destroyed him and his family. Just for his being Jewish and showing modest support for people he actually knew lost their lives.

The story ran in news, local doctors, lawyers’ customers flocked to the Café & began working as baristas for free to help him. Team Wildlife Legacy couldn’t fly up there. So, several of us in club pitched money together and sent him $1,000.00 (this was extra we donated up and above our normal donations). People showed up that had never patronized the shop before. The lines twisted around the block in support of the café owner. Our donation helped tide him over. His beautiful letter of thanks is on the back of this Christmas letter. Prayers at Christmas time for all innocents that lost their lives, or are still separated from their loved ones. And always for our servicemen in harm’s way. If you’re in New York drop by, have some coffee & say hi.

WEEK OF RAGE!

One of worst bear attacks recorded didn't happen in the US or Russia - it happened in Japan! The story of the demon bear who ravaged and wiped out a small village.

WILDLIFE LEGACY SUPPORTS OUR POLICE OFFICERS : $4,200 Hero’s Award FOR MERITIOUS VALOR - THE WILDLIFE LEGACY HERO AWARD

Sheriff Brittney Brown answered a domestic disturbance call. A domestic partner was holding a woman at knife point. Sheriff Brown arrived before her partner. Long before her partner it should be emphasized. The female victim was being stabbed, Sheriff Brown moved into position and Tasered the assailant (that wasn’t my first word choice); he shirked the Taser barbs off as if they were nothing. He lunged at Sheriff Brown trying to kill her with the knife. Sheriff Brown without hesitation or second thought mixed it with the armed assailant. He knifed her in the back calf as the life and death grappling played out on the ground. Sheriff Brown subdued the stoned assailant much larger than her and handcuffed him. Officers from another group arrived to assist at the end of the struggle - her partner had still not arrived [I emphasize].

Sheriff Brown is a single mother, raised here in Austin by our on Angie Altum who is a driving force in our club. Let it suffice to say Angie raised her to be courageous, not back down and generally be a bad ass. Those of you that know Angie well can certainly understand where she inherited her fearlessness. Sheriff Brown did not hesitate, attacked, and saved the victims life – while withholding the need to use her own firearm to kill the assailant.

All lives mattered: the victims, Sheriff Browns and even the undeserving cowardly assailant.

For this Heroic Meritorious Valor Central Texas Wildlife Legacy is awarding $2,200.00. Plus $1,000 donated by founding member George McGee, owner of Austin Silent Market, Inc. and another $1,000 donated by David Sefton Tax Consulting. The $2,200.00 was raised at Aden’ & Amy’s Lasseter Lasseter Ranch at our Wildlife Legacy Fall Pigeon Shoot. Thank you to all of the generous donors towards this award.

FOUNDING MEMBER JACK DAHLSTROM PASSED AWAY

With incredible sadness we note the passing of Jack Dahlstrom. One of the founding members of our club and one of our first corporate sponsors. He generously donated hunts to our first years in the club and helped us get started.

Jack was an exceptional human being. He graduated with an engineering degree from University of Auburn. He finally went into the family business. It was one of the largest privately owned construction companies in the United States in it’s time. Every day, if you live in Austin, Dallas or most other parts of the state you travel on a road Jack designed, supervised and built. If you have ever flown out of the Dallas Fort Worth Airport, it’s there because of the site work Jack did.

He was senior executive of this construction company that at one time was building in two countries, nine states and had over 2,500 workers and 21 airplanes.

He actually hated all of this.

He chose a different course in his life and became an ardent conservationist and steward of the land. He, in his families name, took back the YO Onion Creek, which was the family ranch. He opened the Flatrock Game Ranch in Buda and ran a top notch hunting and exotic breeding operation on the family land. While an exotic ranch entrepreneur he balanced and supervised brutal legal fights with the IRS. A legacy of the family construction business demise during the oil crises and subsequent recession. He never complained – and handled it like a true Texan. He helped navigate extremely difficult IRS problems, fought legally to protect the family trust and preserved the family land. From experience I can tell you this would have broken a lesser man.

He scrimped, saved – re-invested in the ranch and grew his exotic business until there last payment to the IRS. It opened a new phase in the ranch. Jack mentored a number of young boys who became fine young men. My son was one of them. He helped turn my son’s life around. In fact Jack was the inspiration for our club. Jack was one of the hardest working men I ever met. It was nothing for him to work 16 hour days, cooking fine meals and entertaining guest.

Jack envisioned protecting the family ranch for future generations. The ranch is honey combed with caves, sink holes and caverns. It is one of the single largest undeveloped recharge areas to the Edwards Aquifer. When you drink a glass of pure Austin water, that is in part thanks to Jack’s vision and conservation forethought.

He established a land trust, combining a difficult partnership of federal, state, county and city resources to preserve the land and turn part of it into public land. This type of conservation trust had never been attempted, and is now a famous model throughout the country. Law schools even teach this model as a rare coordination of wildly different interest to further conservation.

Jack came to a number of our early banquets, purchased a family hunt to Africa through our club, and was a tremendous family event for him. Leann had the honor to photograph his daughter’s wedding. Jack’s family was his life.

Jack’s passion was conservation: he lived it, breathed it and made it a part of his life. In death in a thousand ways, he passes on his legacy.

IN MEMORIAM FRIEND, COACH AND MEMBER TOM MACK

One of our members, Tom Mack has passed away.   What an awesome guy.  I came across this quote a few days before I knew he was sick.  In The Last of the Mohicans, the protagonist “Hawkeye” a white scout for the British in pre-revolutionary times is ruminating on the nature of heaven.

Major, are you of opinion that the heaven of a redskin and whites will be one and the same ? ”
“ For my own part,” continued Hawkeye… “ I believe that paradise is ordained for happiness ; and that men will be awarded according to their dispositions. I therefore judge that a redskin is not far from the truth when he believes he goes to a glorious hunting-grounds which his traditions foretell; nor, for that matter, do I think it would be a bad paradise for the white hunter  ”…
… “but, concerning the life that is to come: I have heard preachers say, in towns, that heaven was a place of rest. Now men’s minds differ as to their ideas of enjoyment. For myself, a hunter, and I say it with reverence to the ordering of Providence, it would be no great enjoyment to be kept shut up in those mansions of which they preach; having  instead a natural longing for the forest and the hunt. ”

I marked this passage over two weeks ago while re-reading The Last of The Mohicans.    This was before I heard Tom was sick.   The passage stuck with me…  what would my paradise be?  I think Tom nor I would enjoy being locked up in the jeweled mansions on gold streets.  I  know deep in my heart, for Tom – it would be sporting clays courses – shooting straights, with all of his students around.  Especially the first time shooters.  Tom told me many times, watching the joy and pride of the first time shooter, breaking their first clay, meant more to him than shooting a straight at  a top shoot.

This humility; the joy of a student’s accomplishment over his own, and pride in his work made him the exceptional person he was.  Don’t get me wrong, he crowed about winning tournaments.   He just was the “jolly” shooter, breaking clays with the gun upside down, or shooting shotguns one handed.

I have known Tom for a number of years and spent intense time with him the last three as my shooting coach.  As they said in early America – “He was a boon companion”.   There was always a new joke, sometimes corny, but funny.  He was one of the most  contented men I ever knew, very happy with his place in life. He is the only guy I ever knew who put almost a million miles, literally on his truck without an engine replacement!  Even in this simple mundane aspect of life  he took joy and pride, updating me at each lesson how many more miles he had knocked out.

But more seriously, Tom was on his wrestling team in college and a serious competitor.   He was 20 years on the All American Sporting Clays team.  He was sponsored and representative of CZ,  then  Kriegoff and Federal ammunition.  He won numerous shooting awards and competitions.

He was a great supporter of our club and rarely missed an event.  He was a great guy and is already sorely missed.

ANSWER TO JULY'S TRIVIA

I can’t believe we didn’t get a successful guess!

Our July trivia subject was a real honest to God stud and a man’s man.

He was of course played in a movie by no less than John Wayne!

The answer:  David “Tex”Hill, look at the cliff notes of his accomplishments.

Rank
Brigadier General

Unit

Flying Tigers

Commands held
58th Fighter Wing
412th Fighter Group
23rd Fighter Group
1st Proving Ground Group
75th Fighter Squadron

Battles/wars
World War II
Korean War

Awards
Distinguished Service Cross
Legion of Merit
Distinguished Flying Cross (3)
Air Medal (2)
Order of the Cloud and Banner (China)
Distinguished Flying Cross (United Kingdom)

He flew for the Flying Tigers, was an ace, first American pilot to shoot down an enemy with a jet  in WWII, he had a total of 18 kills.  His most significant achievement was destroying Japanese bridges across the Salween River in China.  It was a mile deep gorge, and in their attacks the Japanese shot down at them from the top of the gorge, from the sides, and up at them from below.   The destruction of this Japanese full army advance ended Japan’s take over of China.  This was the furthest point Japan ever reached in their conquest.  It was an incredible victory.

Later Tex Hill became the youngest Brigadier General in the United States and went on to found and lead the Texas air national guard.

John Wayne portrayed Tex Hill in the movie “Flying Tigers”.  Tex and the Duke became friends and hunting buddies.

ANSWER TO JUNE'S TRIVIA

June’s trivia is truly a fascinating personality. Sir Samuel Baker was a world renowned author, hunter and explorer. Several of his books were some of the first to cover ballistics and bullet choice as it applies to hunting. He was one of the world’s best selling authors of his time and was friends with King Edward VII, Queen Alexandra in Egypt. Other friendships were with explorers Henry Morton Stanley, Roderick Murchison, John H. Speke and James A. Grant, with the ruler of Egypt Pasha Ismail The Magnificent, Major-General Charles George Gordon and Maharaja Duleep Singh. He, himself, was a Major General and Pasha of the Ottoman Empire.

As a world famous explorer he discovered Lake Albert while extensively exploring the upper basin of Nile.

Sir Samuel Baker was notorious in Victorian society. On a wild lark with his Royal Highness Maharaja Duleep Singh he took a hunting trip through central Europe. He crossed into present day Bulgaria and attended a slave auction. On a dare they kidnapped one of the “pleasure” slaves on auction, and race across the Balkans and through Hungary. The slave and Sir Baker became a couple, then actually married. Marrying a former slave, especially one from a harem, was not done in Victorian England. Even though Sir Samuel Baker was knighted, and given virtually every accolade and award possible by the British Empire his wife Florence Baker was never allowed to attend court nor was ever accepted by Queen Victoria.

This didn’t phase Sir & Lady Baker one whit. As part of her slave training, she spoke no less than seven languages. She traveled with her husband on his brutally exhausting and dangerous expeditions. She wore men’s clothes and was a crack shot and expert horsewoman. She saved her husband’s life many times.

Animal and mountain named for him….

Subspecies of Roan antelope in his honor: Hippotragus e. bakeri or Baker's antelope.

Mount Baker was named in his honor found in the Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda.

ANSWER TO MAY'S TRIVIA : MAJOR GENERAL CHARLES SICKLES

The leg bone and cannon ball belong to Major General Daniel Sickles. The first person to guess part A was Letisha Scharff. Congratulations you will be receiving a gift card.

Part B has not been answered correctly.

Major General Daniel Sickles, Medal of Honor recipient, was one of those fascinating characters from history. Politically prominent in New York at 35 he married a beautiful 15 year old. He raised a Union regiment in the Civil War, and was known as a “fighting General” who was fearless. He was at a key point in the battle of Gettysburg. For years scholars have argued that he almost lost the battle by moving his troops from a position on Little Round Top forward to the Peach Orchard, directly into Confederate General Longstreet charge for Cemetery Ridge – the defining battle of Gettysburg. During this onslaught, greatly outnumbered, a cannon ball took his leg off while leading the troops. He had his mangled leg tied off and sat up on the stretcher puffing a cigar yelling encouragement to his men.

Modern historians see Maj. Gen. Sickle advance to the Peach Orchard as a spoiling attack against Gen. Longstreet’s main offensive drive for Cemetery Ridge that blunted his ferocious attack; thereby turning the tide of the Battle of Gettysburg. So, depending on the historian, he won the battle of Gettysburg… or almost lost it.

Maj. Gen. Sickles was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions.

Major General Sickles was also notorious… he made national news for murdering Francis Scott Key II (yes, the son of the author of our national anthem) for having an affair with his beautiful but errant wife. Mr. Key was the Attorney General of the United States and was shot down in broad daylight, in Lafayette Park in Washington DC in front of witnesses.

Interestingly, he was the first person to use the defense “innocent by reason of temporary insanity” and walked away acquitted. He was nationally known at this time.

Maj. Gen. Sickles after the war served as a Military Governor of the Carolinas, protecting former slaves right to vote, as well as eliminating discrimination related to wages. He also served as Congressman, Ambassador, special US envoy at different times, and it was through his efforts that Gettysburg is now a national monument. He personally drew the map of the parks borders.

Interestingly he donated his leg to the military medical museum and went for many years to visit his leg on the anniversary of its loss.

His relationship to our club, is not based on any quotes. I have told this story several times at some club dinners, hunts and etc. Sickles is Leann Collins – the club’s vice president’s maiden name. Maj. Gen. Sickles was her great great grandfather. Yes I know this was a tricky one… that’s why we pitched in and raised the stakes!

Good luck on next months !

MEET OUR NEW CORPORATE SPONSOR - FREEDOM BIRDY : CREDIT CARD PROCESSING FOR GUN BUSINESSES

As a second-year corporate sponsor we are excited to participate in this upcoming year.   Even though last year was unprecedentedly dismal, we have had explosive growth.  Some background: in 2017 Nicholas Aluotto set out to create a different kind of merchant company. A company that by any means necessary;

found bank partners that would promote freedom at all costs. That company was Spread Your Wings LLC DBA Yellowbirdy, DBA Greenbirdy and DBA Freedom Birdy.

 https://freedombirdy.com/

Many legal industries ranging from Firearms, Knives, Hunting, Smoke shop, CBD, and various nutricucals are prevented from operating their business as any legal industry would on a day-to-day basis even though they are perfectly legal entities operating perfectly legal and sound businesses.

All too often businesses of these different types wake up to have their merchant accounts turned off, their websites shut down, their social media pages scrubbed.  How can this happen?  Nameless, faceless “woke” drones practicing cancel culture.   Simply put it is all because someone at the bank has inserted their personal morals into the business.

In America freedom of speech is sacred as is the ability to participate in commerce of any legal business type you choose to operate and should be considered equally sacred. Prior to the acceptance of credit cards, we didn't see these issues when everything was cash. Consumers began to heavily rely on credit and debit for spending as a result of the numerous incentives they received from the interchange fees and airplane miles.

Banks from all political spectrums imposed policies on various businesses that they determined were too risky to accept credit cards. This left many legitimate industries by the wayside. Greenbirdy, the name coined by longtime client, friend Nathan Todd helped create our company that focuses on the legal CBD sector.  Nathan was a visionary that helped shed light on the struggle many smoke shops have been fighting in the marketplace for years.

The struggle against banking censorship is very real in the smoke shop industry but we are making headway and day by day it's getting better.

Yellowbirdy, in contrast, focuses on everyday mom and pop businesses with a unique twist. We reinvest the credit card fees we collect back into the business owners’ websites and social media marketing. The fees you paid before went right to the bank account of the merchant processor. Yellowbirdy will match your current fees and give you a free website and build you an effective social media presence all for the same fees you are paying now.

What sets the Birdys apart is they don't have a contract. I can’t stress the importance of this concept.  Everything we do across all our brands is month to month. We don't enjoy locking people into contracts.

Finally, most importantly, there is Freedom Birdy. The Second Amendment is sacred and many 2nd Amd. businesses have been under attack not only by their credit card processing company; also by their web hosting, domain providers and they even have had their bank accounts shut off simply for making parts for guns. Just being a gun related product can get you banned these days.

We've seen high volume gun businesses destroyed overnight over these types of “woke” policies.  Freedom Birdy sees this injustice in the marketplace and brings permanent long-term solutions for processing, web, social and domain hosting. You don't have to own a gun or enjoy CBD products if you don't want to...but if the business is legal and the product is legal you should be able to run your business without

looking over your shoulder.

Case closed, right?

America is rebuilding right now after a long and difficult struggle. We need less judgment, especially towards legal businesses, and more understanding. Our goal is to create unity and fairness in the marketplace. We believe whole heartily in the American entrepreneur.  Consequently, our goal - our mission - is to help them Spread Their Wings and reach their fullest potential as we rebuild together.

Cancel culture and “wokeness” didn’t make America great or keep her safe.   The Second Amendment and entrepreneurship did…  our companies remember, cherish and honor our traditions.

ANSWER TO APRIL’S TRIVIA QUESTION

ANSWER TO APRIL’S TRIVIA QUESTION

Background:

Louis Tewanima won the silver medal in the Olympics for the 10,000 meter run with very little formal competitive training. However, for the Hopi Indians long distance running is part of their culture and religion.

Answer:

The Hopi Indians traditionally ran their game down: pronghorn, deer, turkeys, rabbits till the animal was exhausted.   They would kill the animal, if it hadn’t already died, through compression of the animal’s chest cavity so they couldn’t breathe.  Or in some cases carrying corn ears heavy laden with pollen would suffocate the animal with pollen dust.

Interesting Side Note:

The story is told that after Louis Tewanima reached the reservation after the Stockholm Olympics, and US tour he was challenged to a long distance race by Elders of the Hopi tribe. They all out ran the Olympian.

This link below is extremely interesting as it encapsulate the Hopi mythology of running, their current views, and the history of story telling.

This is told by a Hopi’s grandfather and set to music and media by his grandson. I found it fascinating, but it isn’t to everyone’s taste.

March Trivia Answer

The inventor of a single shot cartridge carbine for the US Government was James Paris Lee.

The deal went south on a disagreement on cartridge caliber, Lee sued the US Government and won. He was so disgusted he went back to his first career as watchmaker.

Though born in England, he spent most of his life in Canada and the US. Later he went on to design the first removable magazine. His greatest claim to fame was inventing the iconic Lee-Enfield rifle. The second oldest continually used military rifle used in world.

No one got this right, most frequent answer was John Browning, second most frequent answer Samuel Colt.

ANSWER TO FEBRUARY'S TRIVIA

The Answer to the February 2021 Trivia is the South African Springbok.

By the 1920's the species (numbering under 1,000 animals) was almost exterminated. It is one of South Africa's major agriculture exports now. The current census ranges from 800,000 up to 2,000,000.

There are literally so many of them no one knows. It is one of the least endangered wild mammals on earth. A true success story of conservation through hunting.

Unfortunately we did not have any eligible winners. Most common guesses were elephant and bison!
Dr. Eric Simmons,DVM guessed correctly, but he already won in the past.

PROVEN GAME PLAN TO GET YOUR COVID VACCINE SOONER THAN EVERYONE ELSE!

PROVEN GAME PLAN TO GET YOUR COVID VACCINE SOONER THAN EVERYONE ELSE!

Leann and I received our Covid vaccine almost a month before anyone else in Austin.   Most people are still waiting in Austin for their vaccine.  Austin was initially given enough vaccine to cover  the 1A category of people in front line health care.  As of this article, not all nursing home residents have received theirs, though most have in our area.

After nursing home residents - vaccinations have been spotty.   This article could care less about the politics of the why’s and wherefores.  Please don’t write me to create a debate, this isn’t what this article is about – agree, disagree…  I don’t care -  but this is a blueprint on HOW to get your vaccine before summer.

Texas is roughly 48th or 49th,   as of a month ago,  in terms of the number of vaccines provided,  which given our population puts us in a shortage for the time being.  This will turn around by summer no doubt.  If you don’t want to wait, follow these steps.  SPOILER ALERT: It’s a lot of work and if you’re lazy read no further.

Per my anecdotal analysis of vaccine distribution, it’s heavily weighted east of I-35, trending more towards North East Texas.  Let’s call it the upper east quadrant of Texas.  The non 1A vaccines in Texas, are slanted towards rural areas with higher density older African American populations in lower income areas.   This is intentional, (it isn’t political); and this distribution was established under President Trump for good reason – it is what it is: no use debating it.  These areas coincidently have lower health insurance coverage and result in high hospitalizations/fatalities.  There was absolutely bi-partisan support for the vaccine allocation on the basis of mortality not wealth – it’s not racist, allocation is based on simple science.  I don’t want to debate this with you; I am providing you a game plan for you to get your vaccine now instead of it being wasted.

For whatever reason, these areas are having surprisingly less utilization of the vaccines, so there are significant amounts of excess vaccines.  Most of these rural areas are happy to give you the vaccine.

Now look at the web page – it’s mostly covered in red dots (not the ones we are looking for) ….

Display the filters that come up on the right side of screen

Notice the three switches on the right,  note the middle one.

This  middle switch – with a blue dot -  is  titled “1ST SINGLE DOSE AVAILABILITY VIEW”   Then move the switch to the right.  The Texas map will then be covered with blue dots.  Bingo…. Now you’re close.

Picture2.jpg

Click on various blue dots and they will tell you where the vaccine is available – in the Eastern quadrant.  Call and contact each place and get on their waiting list. Start contacting sites over an hour away from Austin, also tend towards locations not near affluent larger cities.  I suggest registering on at least 20 different wait list.   We put our name on 100, seriously – we got our first call 6 days later.  Since then we have been  contacted with offers of over 8 more vaccines.  Also, carefully review the categories that might apply – kidney disease, most people have some form of COPD in Texas, kids in school, or in contact with high risk elders.  Be bold, be persistent and realize, in every series of vaccinations there is serum being thrown away or wasted.

Finally, be willing to drive.  If you can drive across Texas to hunt or fish, don’t whine about driving to get vaccines.  You aren’t an oyster planted in one place; the weather’s nice – make the drive.

Good luck ! Everyone following our program have had their  first dose of vaccine in two to three weeks.

CRIME DRAMA IN THE CLUB

CRIME DRAMA IN THE CLUB

This true story is morbidly fascinating… but before you worry, our club credit card information is set up in a way unavailable to any worker. No credit card numbers are kept on any computer or any paper copy. The only risk was my personal credit card. You are okay! Read about our club felon. Hopefully, it will be a cautionary tale; when sociopaths lurk amongst us.

So this strange tale begins. Yesterday was an odd day (10/26/20). The police visited and took Stephanie, our nice-looking worker away in cuffs, and put her in jail.

As the old Persian curse goes “May your life be interesting”…..

So it has been, I write to you the club, to address the perfectly understandable question of what the devil has been going on at our house. In short, we run a charity, focus on the outdoors, and getting disabled veterans back out into doing the things they were doing before being wounded in service to our country.

In the last two years, we have had a terrible time with workers having drinking problems. So our turnover has been higher than normal. We thought we had made a great hire. A Texas A&M graduate with a strong marketing background. Did a Google search and indeed, such a person existed and we made the hire and she started like a blaze of fire.

Well as the months progressed, I began getting fraudulent charges on my credit card. One card was one I never use in an unsecured environment. Then I noticed our worker… just didn’t act like an Aggie and didn’t know those little factoids all Aggies share.

Hmmmm…. Then I dug a little deeper dive into the background. The Aggie marketer of the same name was not her…. The dates on her resume didn’t add up. Her birthdate was said to be in 1978, yet the year she told me she was in A&M was 1991…. making her 13 years old at A&M. I wondered why someone would lie about their birthday on an employment application. A little further digging revealed the truth…..

She had a shocking number of felony arrest warrants over the last 20 years. Mainly for forged checks, stolen prescription pads, altered prescriptions, and credit card fraud. She had been to prison twice, paroled each time.

This time… she was out on parole and had “skipped..”..“jumped” or in the legal parlance absconded and an arrest warrant was outstanding. So in addition to stealing money from our charity to help wounded vets, credit card fraud on our personal credit cards.. she defrauded the charity of almost $10,000.00

Boy, I feel stupid! She went to different towns around Texas and stole and forged checks, fake prescriptions, etc. The police called her an Oxy-Queen.

Here is a woman who had some college education, personable, an articulate woman… she could have made a lot of money in sales or a legitimate job. She has chosen to be a criminal, obviously enjoys it, and refusing to change. I served in a jury pool in Travis County, a person of color was on trial for a relatively minor offense that I honestly couldn’t believe was a felony. Previously, he had two felonies for minor offenses as a juvenile. As I said they were trying him for this minor crime – a felony. The district attorney office was asking me (actually strongly insisting) to impose the "three strikes you are out" rule… and send him to prison for LIFE, for three very minor felonies. None as serious or harmful as the ones our worker committed.

With many multiple felonies, she just keeps on trucking.. stealing from people, even a charity helping wounded veterans. Some of the theft was big money. What’s unimaginable – she was treated as one of our family. Rehabilitation hasn’t helped her one bit.

I got even more upset and said enough. So our neighborhood got a little drama yesterday, our defunded police still responded, went to unbelievable lengths to confirm it was the right person. Then made the arrest with professionalism, grace, sensitivity, and de-escalated the whole thing admirably. The felon finally was hauled to the police station. No tears on her part, no visible surprise… less emotion than me going and checking my mail. Frightening cold-blooded – a real cool cucumber. I am telling you it’s kinda scary that someone is in your house for months, a complete sociopath – and you barely have a clue. I am writing to tell you, check everyone, secure your checkbooks and credit cards.

Some warning signs… moves several times in two months. Their story begins to have holes in it, small things… you should then look for the larger problems. One clear marker is the name dropping of famous people like they know them. Yet their life standard of living is different than the social circles they claim to know as good friends. In these instances, as in this case, some of those people always seem to be professional athletes. There is always a sob story about why they are financially not where they should be, and they always cast themselves as a victim. The above applies to honest unlucky people as well, but it is a warning sign. A sociopath running amok in your personal records can do unbelievable harm.

Think on this: after our club pheasant hunt in the coming weeks, Leann and I would've come home to an empty house!
